ITS SYMBOLIC
Answers to questions
1. Three symbols I have encountered in my life: one would be the different bathroom symbols you see in public in everyday life, the stick figure looking symbol indicating a male restroom and the stick figure symbol with an upside down triangle indicating a dress or skirt meaning woman's restroom. Another symbol that is world wide known that you probably encounter often is the Wi-Fi symbol, anywhere you go, you know what that indicates, Wi-Fi/connection to the internet. My last example of a symbol that I see in every day life is the "not allowed" symbol, usually red, a circle with a diagonal dash through it. Every time we see that symbol, we know that its not allowed or whatever is behind the symbol is banned.
2. One possible meaning of the green light at the end of the dock from the book the great Gatsby could be that maybe the green light was there as a symbol meaning "go" as if it was maybe saying to go if you were thinking about it, to not hesitate, like a sign to just do whatever it was that you were hesitating on. Another possibility is maybe it was quite literally saying to drive off the dock into the water.
3. People are similar to animals in many ways, personally I would even refer to us as animals or at least a type of animal but some examples of how we are similar can include, we are both alive, we both die, we both need food/ some sort of nutrients or fuel, we both mate, and both have a lot of the same instincts and tendencies.
4. We are also a very different type of species from animals and even other hominid species, what sets us apart and makes us unique and different is the fact that we tell stories and we include symbols in those stories.
5. Telling stories and inventing symbols really empowers and helps to organize people in larger numbers because when we create world wide known symbols every symbol has a story or meaning behind it, we can come together because we all recognize the symbol/ the meaning/the story and it makes us part of a bigger understanding.
