MMS PART 2
1. The difference between a sign and a symbol, is that a sign is not always purposely put there, and a symbol is made to mean something or have a reason behind it. A sign can indicate something that happened but signs are not always intended.
2. The three elements of the symbolic relationship is the symbol itself, the referent, and us.
3. I think a word is a symbol rather than a sign because a world is technically made up symbols (letters) put together in a sequence with an added sound which means something. We use words to refer to "things" so words are symbols for those "things".
4. A natural sign that I have seen in the world is a cloudy sky, which will indicate to us how the weather will be and it can tell us that it will rain or be cold.
5. A symbol I have seen in the world would be the apple logo or (symbol) which refers to apple products. I know what it means or stands for because over time, you see it used to much when advertising and it is even on every one of there products so you start to recognize and relate that symbol to their products.
